According to NBA on TNT insider Chris Haynes, the Phoenix Suns reportedly had interest in Kyle Lowry, which gave Damian Lillard hope he’d be traded to the Miami Heat.

However, that did not end up happening as Lillard went to the Bucks, but the Suns were still involved.

Here are the full trade details:

  • Bucks Receive: Damian Lillard
  • Blazers Receive: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, 2029 1st round pick via Bucks and two pick swaps with the Bucks
  • Suns Receive: Jusuf Nurkić, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson and Grayson Allen

Haynes made the claim on Marc Stein’s “UNCUT” Podcast.

“I was told that Phoenix was very interested in Kyle Lowry,” Haynes said. “I think that’s why Dame always held out hope that Portland at last minute would go back to Miami with some potential offer on the table. Something that would send Lowry to Phoenix … It just never panned out.”

The 37-year-old, six-time NBA All-Star would have been an interesting fit in Phoenix, especially considering the Suns traded away Chris Paul this offseason.

Haynes has not been the most accurate reporter when it comes to Phoenix, and it doesn’t really matter now if these reports are true.

However, if they are correct then the Suns have had recent reported interest in two point guards. T.J. McConnell is another name floating around in rumors surrounding Phoenix.

The Suns currently do not have a true point guard on their roster. It was interesting that they did not receive any when they got four players back in this trade.

It will be tough for the Suns to make any sort of move (explained in article below) in the next two months. Lowry is pretty much off the table now.
