The Potential Phoenix Suns Rotation After the Deandre Ayton Trade

There was a huge trade that went down in the NBA today as the Milwaukee Bucks, Portland Trailblazers, and Phoenix Suns completed a three team deal. The headline grabber from this deal is that seven time All-NBA team member Damian Lillard is now a Buck. The Suns traded away Deandre Ayton and Toumani Camara. They received Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson in return. How will this affect the rotation for the Suns?

Potential Starters

  • Bradley Beal
  • Devin Booker
  • Josh Okogie
  • Kevin Durant
  • Jusuf Nurkic

Potential Bench

  • Eric Gordon
  • Grayson Allen
  • Keita Bates-Diop
  • Bol Bol
  • Drew Eubanks
  • Yuta Watanabe
  • Damion Lee

There are some other options that could be used for the starting line-up. There are four starters who are locked in Beal, Booker, Durant, and Nurkic. The first option for that fifth spot are Josh Okogie who is a great on-ball defender but has struggled with his jump shot from time to time. Another option is Grayson Allen. Allen is a good defender and a very good shooter from three. Another option is Eric Gordon. Who is a good defender and the best scorer of the three.

The fact that the Suns have options for their fifth starter and big minute bench players is a great sign. The lack of depth that worried lots of basketball fans, may not be as bad as initially thought.

The Suns will most likely always have one of their “big 3” in the game. It will be interesting to see how Phoenix head coach Frank Vogel divides up the minutes. How long will it take for Vogel to find that sweet spot for minutes and line-up combinations. Will we see a line-up with Durant, Bol, and Nurkic all in at the same time? Will we see a small line-up with Durant at center? The Suns are the most interesting team in the NBA due to the endless possibilities of what they can do.
