Highlights from the hill

The Diamondbacks had Merrill Kelly on the hill today to start things off, and he dominated in total Merrill Kelly fashion. Kelly threw six and two-thirds innings, allowing just three hits, one earned run, one walk and punched out five hitters. The only run Kelly gave up on the afternoon was a LaMonte Wade Jr home run to lead the ball game off. Arizona threw three more arms after Kelly, who didn’t give up any hits, or any runs. The Diamondbacks threw Ryan Thompson for 0.1 innings, Luis Frias for an inning, and Kyle Nelson to finish it off. Arizonas arm barn finished with a line of no earned runs with zero hits allowed, one walk, and three combined strikeouts.

Performances at the plate

The Diamondbacks absolutely lit it up at the plate this series. Arizona scored 15 runs in two games against the Giants. Todays game was headlined by Corbin Carroll. Carroll went 4/5 with three singles, and a home run. Carroll became the first rookie in MLB history to have 25 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. Arizona also had two other hitters with 3+ hits, Gabriel Moreno, and Christian Walker. Ketel Marte also hit a home run, which was right behind Carrolls bomb in the seventh inning. All seven of the Diamondbacks runs came from RBIs.

Whats next
