Rising’s Mohamed Traore named to USL Championship Team of the Week

Mohamed Traore, a defender for the Phoenix Rising was named honorable mention to the USL Championship Team of the Week. Traore played all 90 minutes for the Rising in their last game and won three tackles while drawing one foul.

During week 27 of USL Championship matches, the Rising tied FC Tulsa 0-0 on the road at ONEOK Field. In 90 minutes of play, both teams failed to find the back of the net as both defenses stepped up in their respective backfields.

The Rising had five interceptions and the defense forced one offsides against Tulsa. Traore and the defense further put the pressure on Tulsa, limiting the number of shots on target to just two out of 11 attempts.

At 21-years-old, Traore has started 10 games for the Rising and has totaled 14 successful tackles, five interceptions and 13 crosses. Traore started his journey playing in the MLS for the Los Angeles FC at just 17-years-old. He then moved to the USL where he played two seasons with the Las Vegas Lights before joining the Rising at the beginning of the 2023 season.
