A rough start on the mound from rookie Ryne Nelson led the Diamondbacks to a 7-4 loss to the Mets. The series is now tied at one apiece.

After the Diamondbacks struck first with a Ketel Marte triple in the 3rd inning, they were forced to play from behind the rest of the night.

The Mets swiftly answered, beginning with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Then, a two-run blast off the bat of Ronny Mauricio gave New York their first lead.

Ryne Nelson was eventually forced out of the game in the 5th inning following another two-run bomb. It was Pete Alonso’s 44th of the season.

While the Diamondbacks bullpen did provide some quality innings of relief, which allowed Arizona’s offense to attempt to answer back, a 6-1 deficit proved to be too large.

In total, the D-backs went an abysmal 2-10 with runners in scoring position. They left at least two runners on base in four separate innings, two of which ended with double plays.

Arizona will be back in action for Game 3 of their series against the Mets tomorrow at 4:10. Zac Gallen is scheduled to get the start.
