Sophie Cunningham led the way for the Mercury with 18 points on 3-11 shooting but got the majority of her points from the free-throw line as she went 11-12 from the strike.

Michaela Onyenwere (12 points) and Megan Gustafson (15 points) had solid games as both combined for 27 points on 12-25 shooting. Each girl had a steal in the game while Gustafson added in a block and 8 rebounds.

Britney Griner was still out due to health and safety protocols, Shey Peddy is still out from her scary concussion injury, and Diana Taurasi struggled from the floor as she only scored 6 points on 1-5 shooting.

The Mercury had no answer for starters Kelsey Mitchell (28 points) and Nalyssa Smith (25 points) who combined for a total of 53 points. Smith in particular added in 11 rebounds, 1 steal, and was efficient from the floor as she shot 9-12 from the field.

Mitchell on the other hand made history tonight and moved into the 3,000 points club during today’s win vs Mercury.

Overall, the Mercury made it close in the 4th quarter thanks to Mitchell scoring 13 of her points in the quarter. Unfortunately, the Mercury just couldn’t get it going from three-point range as they shot 3-22 from the three-point line and that made or break the outcome of the game as well as making stops.

Mercury Fall to the Seattle Storm For the 4th Time This Season

The Mercury will look ahead to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday night to hopefully snap out of this losing streak.
