The Arizona Diamondbacks winning streak has officially ended at six games as they fell to the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night with a final score of 5-2.

While the D-backs definitely had their chances to mount a comeback, they could not come through with a hit when they needed it the most.

This includes a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the 7th inning where Pavin Smith and Ketel Marte stranded three runners on base with back-to-back strikeouts.

While the calls were questionable, especially Pavon Smith’s strikeout, six hits on the night is not nearly enough to win a ballgame against a team like the Braves.

Rookie Ryne Nelson got his 12th start of the season for Arizona. He threw 4.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and four walks.

For the Braves, they had current Cy Young candidate Spencer Strider, who threw six innings, allowing two earned runs on just two hits.

But, for the Diamondbacks, they could not get to the Braves bullpen as three pitchers combined for three shutout innings to close the game out.

Pavin Smith, Ketel Marte, and Corbin Carroll combined for a 0-10 night, halting any attempts at a late game rally.

However, the Diamondbacks can still find a way to win the series with their ace on the mound tomorrow night in the form of Zac Gallen. And thankfully for the D-backs, they will remain at the top of the NL West for the time being as the Dodgers fell to the Yankees earlier on Saturday.

First pitch for the third and final game of the series will be at 1:10, once again at Chase Field.
