After a remarkable performance during May, Diamondbacks left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. was placed on the MLB’s team of the month alongside future and former MVPs.

Gurriel Jr. stands next to CF Aaron Judge and RF Juan Soto, arguably the two best hitters in the entire league.
And this is well deserved.
Last month, Gurriel finished with an outstanding .352 batting average. He recorded 32 hits, eight home runs, and 32 RBIs. Additionally, the 24-year-old scored 18 runs in just 24 games.
For reference, hypothetically, if Lourdes Gurriel Jr. played all 162 games of the season at this pace, his ending stat line would look a little something like this.
214 hits
54 homeruns
122 RBIs
122 Runs
Not bad for a player that the Diamondbacks stole from the Blue Jays in what may have been their best trade of the decade.
This offensive performance allowed the D-backs to end the month on a 11-5 stretch and moved them up to one of the best records in the National League.
They are currently in the midst of a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves. After taking game one in dramatic fashion, the first pitch for game two will be at 7:10 on Saturday.
