The Arizona Diamondbacks picked up their sixth win in a row with a 3-2 victory over the NL East’s first-place Atlanta Braves.

Merrill Kelly was excellent on the mound; he threw seven innings, allowing just two earned runs on five hits. Kelly also struck out eight batters.

Behind him, the bullpen was just as great, as they provided two clutch shutout innings, preventing the Braves offense from producing any more runs.

It was a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. first-inning double that drove in the first two runs of the game, allowing the D-backs to jump out to an early 2-0 lead.

This was followed by a Christian Walker double in the 3rd inning that extended the Diamondbacks lead to 3-1. The rookie, Corbin Carroll, scored in both instances.

On the Braves side, it was just two solo shots from Eddie Rosario that brought in their only two runs.

With the win, the Diamondbacks are 12 games above .500 and hold the best record in the National League for the time being.

After picking up one of their most impressive wins on the season, the D-backs will now take on NL Cy Young leader Spencer Strider, who will enter the matchup with a 2.97 ERA.

First pitch for this matchup will be at 7:10, Ryne Nelson is scheduled to take the mound for Arizona.
