Merrill Kelly took the mound as the starter for the D-backs, he went on to pitch five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, two walks, and an error. When Kelly exited the ballgame, the D-backs were trailing 3-2 entering the sixth inning.

However, the bullpen then came in to lock down a very impressive Pirates offense. Scott McGough and Kevin Ginkel combined for four no-hit innings, allowing just two baserunners in the latter half of the game.

This pair of excellent outings from the bullpen allowed the Diamondbacks offense to find its groove.

After just two hits in the first five innings (one of which was a solo blast from Corbin Caroll), the Diamondbacks put a run on the board in the fifth, followed by a three-run spot in the sixth and a dagger in the ninth.

Christian Walker once again led the offensive charge with three RBIs. At 32 years old, Walker is off to one of the best seasons of his career.

The Diamondbacks will now wrap up their nine-game road trip with a series in Philadelphia starting on Monday. Arizona is 7-3 in its past 10 games and holds the third best record in the national league.

Tommy Henry will take the mound tomorrow at 3:40 against the Phillies, who hold one of the best home records in the MLB.
