The Phoenix Suns lost game 1 to the Denver Nuggets in the second round of the playoffs. A second quarter surge from the Nuggets put them up by double digits and they never looked back.

The Nuggets seemed to out work the Suns in all faucets of the game. They were first to the loose balls, and they were boxing out like the game depending on it.

Suns and Jump Shots

It felt the Suns thought they could stroll into the gym and win by putting up jump shot after jump shot. Unfortunately this is playoff basketball.

In the playoffs not only does the game slow down but every possession matters. Once you go cold for a few plays, you can look up and find yourself down 10.

When the Suns did find themselves down 10 in the second quarter, they stubbornly put up brick after brick after brick.

An old saying in basketball that is as true as the tale of time, “you live and you die by the jump shot”. Even Ayton lacks the ability to score from anywhere except that 12 foot range inside the free throw line.

The Suns need someone to bring some dominance to the party, all this finesse will not cut it.

Nuggets Dominate

Down low the two time MVP Jokic had a party in the paint. from rebounds to layups, it was a day at the beach for him. He ended the game with 24 points and 19 rebounds, wow.

Jamal Murray, as hot as he was from the three point line, he attacked the rim in transition like a man on a mission.

The Suns will need to bring their big boy pants to the rest of this series, crying to the refs and getting petty chippy fouls is bush league and not the answer to win.
