Durant and Nike first started working together back in 2007 when he signed on as a rookie for the SuperSonics. Since then he has made 15 signature shoes and has been a big face of the company and a great ambassador for the brand.

Durant has long been an investor in grassroots basketball and even did a collab with Nike with on-court refurbishments in communities across the world.

According to the boardroom, the lifetime deal will include footwear, apparel, community, and philanthropic collaboration focused on grassroots basketball.

Nike’s John Slusher talked about the lifetime deal with Durant and what it means for the company moving forward. “As one of the best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years. We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”

Durant also added to his thoughts about this new well-deserved achievement. “When I first signed with Nike, I couldn’t have dreamed of how far we’d go in this partnership. We’ve done amazing work creatively and philanthropically. We’ve traveled the world together and built a business that will now last forever. I’m excited for the future and honored to be in rare company with this deal.”
