The NBA regular season is coming slowly to an end for the Phoenix Suns. The Denver Nuggets, shorthanded, appeared to be an easy win to add onto the ongoing winning streak.

The Suns had won six games in a row coming into Thursday, which was set to be seven. Denver put up the more surprising of a contest however, giving Phoenix a serious game into the final minutes.

Bruce Brown and others stepped up in Denver starters’ absence. As a result, the Suns found in jeopardy of losing to a starless Nuggets squad.

Phoenix was able to hold off Denver though, winning 119-115. The Suns have now won seven in a row.

Chris Paul’s Scoring Dominance

On Tuesday against the Sacramento Kings, Paul delivered a 22-point, two assists performance. In so, Paul reminded the league that he was still capable of those performances.

Paul nearly replicated that outing, but did it better against Denver. Paul finished the game with 25 points, two assists and six rebounds. He shot 7-of-12 from three-point range.

Similar to Tuesday, Paul’s performance only adds to the lethal options the Suns have at their disposal ahead of the postseason.

Kevin Durant Takes Over

During the first half, Durant wasn’t effective enough to takeover for the Suns. As a result, Phoenix went into halftime with only a one-point lead.

That story line shifted in the second half, where Durant was able to score six points in the third quarter before his fourth-quarter barrage.

The 6’8″ forward finished the night with 29 points, seven rebounds and four assists through 41 minutes of play. Seeing his minutes so high could produce mixed feelings. The ability of Durant to play through those 41 minutes ahead of the playoffs is a positive.

On the other hand, playing Durant that much before playoffs could prove unfortunate.
