Durant didn’t have his typical efficient shooting night tonight as he only scored 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds while shooting 5-18 from the floor. He started to figure things out in the second half more than the first half when he only shot 1-8 from the floor and scored 3 points.

Durant alluded to the media tonight that he might’ve been a little too amped up for tonight’s game and that was the reason why he was in a little bit of shooting funk tonight.

During the first half, Durant seemed a bit frustrated with his shots not going in and you can see him shaking his head walking back to the sideline. At the point head coach Monty Williams noticed it and offered words of encouragement to Durant during free throws.

Williams gave more clarity postgame toward the rhythm that Durant was playing with and how even though it didn’t show up offensively, it still showed up defensively in key spots.

Devin Booker finished with 29 points to lead the Suns in the win and even discussed about how big of an impact Durant had not only on the team but the entire building that might’ve made him anxious for tonight’s game.

Suns win close one in Kevin Durant’s home debut

Despite Durant’s off night, it was a good all around defensive game for the Suns. They only shot 20 three’s all night but scored really well in the paint. They found other ways to win despite one of their best players having an off night shooting and that’s what good teams do.
