James Worthy Compares Himself to Kevin Durant

© Kyle Terada - USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, former Lakers legend James Worthy did a Q&A on Twitter and got asked the question of who reminds him of himself in today’s game. He feels like Suns forward Kevin Durant is the one player that reminds him of himself.

“I kind of compared myself to Kevin Durant,” Worthy says. “Not that much of a prolific scorer but I had some of the same skillsets.”

Worth played for 12 seasons and is a three-time NBA champion, a finals MVP, and a 7-time NBA All-Star. Throughout his career, he averaged 17.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 3.0 APG, and 1.1 SPG.

Compared to Durant, he’s playing in his 17th NBA season and has averaged 27.3 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 4.3 APG, and 1.1 SPG. He’s also a two-time NBA Champion and two-time Finals MVP while being selected to 13 all-star games.

Both have great lengths and play similar positions. Both don’t take a lot of volume shots, however, Durant is a lot more of an efficient scorer as he doesn’t need to take a lot of shots to score over 25 a game.

The Suns Are Now 4 Games From Being The 10th Seed After Loss To Warriors

If Durant were to retire right now he would go down as a Hall-of-Famer just like Worthy did back in 2003. For now Durant is seeking to still play and is trying this year to capture his third NBA championship similar to Worthy.
