Look away Suns fans this one may sting a little. There were reports that came out today that if the Suns could, they would’ve kept Mikal Bridges away from the trade that brought Kevin Durant to Phoenix according to Brian Winhorst from the Hoop Collective Podcast.
During his podcast around the 34-minute mark, Windhorst explained how the Suns were trying to figure out a way to do the deal without including Bridges. As we all know, the deal ended up being Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, and four first-round picks including a pick swap. The Suns in return got Durant and T.J. Warren.
In other reports by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, he said that Suns owner and Governor Mat Ishbia was trying to work a trade that didn’t center around Bridges but that was considered a non-starter for the Brooklyn Nets.
It’s sad to see a player like Bridges go but the Suns got the guy they’ve always wanted in Kevin Durant since the summer. Now we just got to see how it all plays out.
