Suns vs. Heat Preview, Odds, and Predictions Ahead of Tonight’s Game

© Jim Rassol- USA TODAY Sports

After a tough stretch on the road over the last week, the Phoenix Suns are back home as they’re set to host the Miami Heat in what will be the second and final time the two teams have met this season. The Suns are looking to desperately get in the win column as they have tumbled all the way down to the 8th seed in the conference. They are riding a four game losing streak after dropping a heartbreaker in Cleveland on Wednesday night by losing in the last seconds 90-88.

The Suns had a rough time shooting that game as they only hit 39% of their shots as well as hitting 35% three point opportunities. The good news for them is that they defended exceptioanlly well as they forced 15 turnovers with 8 of them being steals and the Cavs only shot 39% from the floor as well and 30% from three. Unfortunately they missed easy looks down the stretch while the Cavs hit tough looks down the stretch which ended up being the driving force of why they lost the game late. Chris Paul had a tremondous game with 25 points and 8 assists while also playing 40 minutes.

As for the Heat, the heat have won 4 of their last 6 but they ended up dropping their last game to the Los Angeles Lakers by a final score of 112-109. Bam Adebayo had a great game with 30 points and 13 rebounds while shooting 13-23 from the floor. Jimmy Butler added 27 points on 50% shooting. Heat struggled at the three point line as they only made 8 three’s while shooting 27.6% from the arc. They did force 17 turnovers and out rebounded them on the offensive side of the ball. The Heat are looking to keep the Suns in their slump later tonight. Here are the odds ahead of tonight’s game between the Suns and Heat.

Betting Odds:

The Heat are favored at -2 and the O/U for the game is set at 214. Against the spread at home, the Suns are 11-8 at home and 6-5 as underdog’s. The Heat against the spread this season are 9-10-1 on the road and 9-17-2 as favorites. As for the O/U, the Suns are 8-11 at homes and 7-4 as underdogs. The Heat are 7-13 at home and 13-15 as favorites. This game is setting up perfectly for a Suns upset based on how the Heat have fared against the spread all season.

The difference in today’s game is going to come down to three point shooting vs free throw atempts. The Suns rank 3rd in 3 point percentage while the Heat rank 23rd. The Heat rank 26th in free throw attempts while the Suns rank 28th. Both teams play a slow pace style of offense but the Suns assists the ball at a higher clip than the Heat. The Heat however rank 3rd in steals and 7th in defensive rating so it’s without a doubt going to be a close game despite the Suns having no Devin Booker or Cam Johnson.

Prediciton:

I got the Suns in an upset tonight winning by a final score of 108-99. The Suns are 14-5 at home this year, I like the Suns advantage at the three point line, and they put together a great defensive performance against the Cavs this past Wednesday that will continue into tonight’s game. I think Bam Adeabyo will continue to play great but I believe the Suns abilitu to make three’s at a high clip and both teams struggling to get to the line is what causes me to pick the Suns for today’s matchup.

Tip-off for tonight’s game begins at 8 PM Mountain Standard Time as the Suns will be looking to get out of their four game losing streak with a win at Fooprint tonight.
