The Suns sit at No.2 on ESPN’s latest power rankings, with the Milwaukee Bucks taking the first slot. The Suns are 6-1 for the season, with their only lost coming at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers. While that’s the case, Portland comes in three slots behind the Suns at No.5.

Given Phoenix’s challenging schedule so far, and the results of said schedule, it’s no surprise to see the Suns headlining the rankings. ESPN had Phoenix ranked No.3 in its prior rollout.

Phoenix jumped out to a good start after setting the record straight with the Dallas Mavericks on its season-opener. Following their lost to the Blazers, the Suns went on a current five-game winning streak at home. The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves were a few notable teams that were bested by Phoenix.

With the entirety of sagas that unrolled throughout the offseason, such as Kevin Durant, Deandre Ayton and Jae Crowder, the Suns were believed to be out of their title window.

Now, Phoenix will travel to Portland to redeem its only lost of the season. Deandre Ayton could be nearing his return after being sidelined with a left ankle injury. In the meantime, the reserves have showed up for Phoenix.

Devin Booker leads Phoenix in scoring with 27.7 points per game. On the other hand, Chris Paul has lived up to his Point God status with 11 assists per game.
