After a career season for Merrill Kelly, the Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher has announced he will join Team USA to compete in the World Baseball Classic.
In 2022, Kelly posted a 3.37 ERA. This included a span in July where the 33-year-old recorded a 5-1 record along with a 2.09 ERA.
Ironically, Kelly will be right at home as the WBC takes place at Chase Field in March of 2023.
Team USA is in search of gold and their roster does not disappoint. Stars such as Bryce Harper, Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, Pete Alonso, Kyle Tucker, and Trea Turner are some of the many taking the field this spring.
Merrill Kelly will also be the first Diamondback since Paul Goldschmidt in 2017 to be invited to the WBC.
