Mullen missed almost all training camp because he had foot surgery in May. As a result, he fail behind eight ball with the Raiders, and Las Vegas decided to move on from the cornerback.

Now Mullen will get a fresh start with Arizona; he will give the Cardinals some much-needed depth in their secondary. Mullen could quickly work his way into starting position with his skill set.

With Cardinals defensive Vance Joesph wanting to play a lot of press-man coverage, Mullen should excel with the Cardinals. Mullen is an excellent press-man corner; he likes to be physical with his length, and the cornerback has good straight-line speed.

Mullen is also willing to play the run; he doesn’t mind sticking his nose in there to make a tackle. However, sometimes his technique can get him into trouble. Joesph could help him with that; sometimes, you need a new coaching staff to help you with your weaknesses.

Before getting hurt last season, Mullen was ranked as the No.19 cornerback according to Pro Football Focus. He was thrown at 24 times last year, giving up 15 receptions for 193 and a touchdown.

The former Raider is entering his fourth year in the NFL, has played 37 games, and has started 31. Mullen has four interceptions, and 28 passes defended in his three years of service. 2020 was Mullen’s best season when he intercepted two passes and had 14 pass breakups.

The former Clemson star has more room to improve and is going to a team that fits his skill set, which is a big plus. If Mullen can remain healthy, expect an outstanding season for him.
