Arizona State is having one of the most impressive break through seasons in all of college football and are now in a position to possibly do the unfathomable: make the college football playoffs. With three games to go, the Sun Devils currently sit tied for 3rd place in the Big 12, with the top two teams earning an invite to the conference championship game in Arlington. In order for the Sun Devils to earn a bid to the CFP, they would have to win the Big 12 Title. R
So how can they make that happen?
Well first off, they would have to win out the rest of their three remaining regular season games. After that, they’re going to still need a little help. Its likely that the Sun Devils would find themselves still tied for second place with the tie breaker then coming down to games against each other. This tie breaker probably wouldn’t come into play if Colorado was in the mix because they haven’t played any of the other teams in contention. The next tie breaker would be games against like opponents. This one could greatly favor the Sun Devils depending on the outcome of this weekends game, mainly Iowa State against Cincinnati. If the Bearcats were to win that game, ASU would own the tie breaker and likely be in a position to earn the second spot in the conference title game.
