Arizona Cardinals starting right tackle Jonah Williams is progressing with his injury much better than previously expected.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! After going on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in Week 1, the Cardinals will be opening the 21-day practice window for Williams today, coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters. Williams’ injury was initially feared to be season-ending.
Arizona now can elevate Williams to the active roster any time in the next 21 days. The Cardinals just activated rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson from the injured reserve yesterday after waiting the full 21 days.
Williams signed a two-year, $30 million with Arizona in free agency this summer after spending his first five NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Veteran tackle Kelvin Beachum had been starting in place of Williams, who only played 22 snaps in the opener. Arizona has also lost starting right guard Will Hernandez, who suffered a season-ending knee injury.
The Cardinals are currently 4-4 on the year and in first place in the NFC West. They host the Chicago Bears (4-3) on Sunday.
