Durant, Team USA’s all-time leading scorer, missed all five of the team’s exhibition games leading up the Olympics with the injury, but has been practicing for over a week. He had been working tirelessly to return from the injury, which he suffered over a month ago, despite some doubt he would play against Serbia.
Durant has been the U.S.’s leading scorer each of the last three Olympics, which have all resulted in gold medals. Even at age 35, the hope is that Durant can once again be a top scorer on this already-loaded Olympic team, who won all five of their exhibition games, but struggled to find a consistent rhythm.
