The Phoenix Mercury are set to open their new state-of-the-art practice facility in downtown Phoenix officially, and it’s not just any ordinary gym. At the heart of this 58,000-square-foot, $100 million marvel are two full-sized basketball courts dedicated to the legendary Diana Taurasi.

The grand opening, led by Phoenix Mercury and Suns owner Mat Ishbia, will mark the start of the 2024 WNBA All-Star festivities in Phoenix. Ishbia and the Mercury will unveil the Diana Taurasi Courts, each featuring a unique Taurasi-inspired log. Taurasi has played 20 seasons with the Mercury. She’s racked up three WNBA championships, six Olympic appearances, and 11 WNBA All-Star appearances.

“It’s only right that the biggest WNBA All-Star Weekend in the history of our league begins by honoring the GOAT, Diana Taurasi,” said Ishbia via X. “We are excited to name the courts at our brand new Phoenix Mercury practice facility after the best to ever play in the WNBA.”

This event is expected to bring together Mercury players, WNBA All-Stars, Olympians, and leaders in women’s sports, all gathering to celebrate the GOAT in true Taurasi style. Attendees should prepare for a mix of high-flying basketball action and maybe a few Taurasi trademark smirks.

The court will be unveiled on July 18 at 5 p.m.

Get ready to witness history as the Phoenix Mercury tip-off the 2024 WNBA All-Star festivities with a splash of Taurasi flair.
