After Kansas and UNLV combined for 85 points in the highest-scoring bowl game in 2023, the Guaranteed Rate Bowl is returning to Phoenix this year.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to a press release, the 35th annual Guaranteed Rate Bowl will be back at the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chase Field, on Dec. 26 at 3:30 p.m. MST. The game will be the “only Big Ten vs. Big 12 postseason matchup” this year. It will be broadcasted live on ESPN.
Following up on the D-backs’ historic run to the World Series last year, Chase Field was the venue that saw Kansas win 49-36 over UNLV, the first bowl win the Jayhawks had in 15 years. Kansas quarterback Jason Bean set a bowl record of six touchdown passes in the victory, winning the Offensive MVP honor.
Hosting such an exhilarating game in 2023 and looking forward to an even better encore, Guaranteed Rate Bowl Executive Director & CEO Erik Moses talked about how memorable this year’s installment will hopefully be.
“The Guaranteed Rate Bowl is a special college football postseason experience for student-athletes, fans, alumni and families in what will be a lifetime memory for all involved,” Moses said in the press release. “With an afternoon kickoff, we are excited to explore new elements and activations to create an elevated fan experience. There’s no place better to be in December than Arizona to combine holiday traditions with the pageantry of exciting postseason college football featuring teams from premier conferences in the Big Ten and Big 12.”
For those interested in locking in their tickets beforehand, a deposit of $50 can be placed by heading to this link on SeatGeek. The press release also stated that there will also be premium seating and experiences which can be purchased by either contacting (480) 350-0911 or emailing premium@fiestabowl.org.
After the game, the press release also said that Fiesta Bowl Charities will continue its trend of donating the Guaranteed Rate Bowl’s 75,000-plus square foot natural grass playing field to yet another Arizona community in need.
Last year, Fiesta Bowl Charities gifted the field to the Fighter Country Foundation at Luke Air Force Base, the ninth field it has donated across the Valley. Other locations included Glendale, Bullhead City, Phoenix, Maryvale, Fort Mohave, Avondale and Laveen.
