GLENDALE – The Phoenix Suns are on the verge of losing their sixth straight game on Sunday vs. a tough Toronto Raptors team. The last time these two franchises faced off was up North, with Toronto leaving with the 122-115 victory. If Phoenix wants to avoid another defeat, here are the basics it needs to avoid.

Don’t let Brandon Ingram get hot:

During their March 13th game, Ingram scored 36 points on 13-of-20 from the field and a scorching five-of-six from beyond the arc. With his slender 6’8 frame and long wingspan, Ingram worked to get to his spots at the elbow and got comfortable quick against a lacking Suns defense.

Head coach Jordan Ott will need his newly found gem in Rasheer Fleming to take serious pride in shocking down Ingram, not letting him get to his spots. The Raptors lack of shooting could see Ott send a double Ingram’s way, with the lack of shooting non-existent.

Old Devin Booker needs to return:

In the past two games, Booker has shot 31.6% from the field and 22.2% from 3. His aggressiveness has been lacking, leading to his free throws number plummeting. The 29-year-old’s 18 points per game in recent contest can’t be the norm if the team wants to be successful. Booker will need to find his groove against a Toronto squad he dropped 31 points on.

If the five-time All-Star doesn’t have his shot falling, then Booker will need to rely on his playmaking and not force shot in favor of letting others find their rhythm.

Someone on the Suns need to step up:

Jalen Green is currently on his best stretch of the season, averaging 20.3 points in the last 16 games. However, he is shooting below 40% from the field and 30% from the perimeter. The young combo guard will need to fix his efficiency and find the right shot for the team over himself. Green did score 34 points in the last matchup vs. Toronto, but a blocked dunk in the final moments where he cocked the ball back for Scottie Barnes to block it ended up costing him the game.

Injuries haven’t helped the team’s offense, heavily focusing on Booker and Green. Ott will need one of his other role players to step up and be dangerous enough to go for 20+ points. With Grayson Allen’s injury status unknown, Collin Gillespie or Ryan Dunn need to become more aggressive on the offensive end to get up more shots.

Opportunity meets production as Collin Gillespie nears Suns’ 3-point record
