SAN ANTONIO – The margin for error shrinks quickly in the Western Conference, and tonight’s matchup between the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs feels bigger than mid-February basketball.

Phoenix enters without Dillon Brooks, who is suspended after picking up his 16th technical foul just before the All-Star break. His absence removes edge and defensive versatility, two traits that have quietly defined the Suns’ identity this season. That shifts the spotlight directly onto Jalen Green, who returns, saying he feels the best he has all year, per Duane Rankin of AZCentral.
“Everything feels good. Probably the best I’ve felt all season.”

Green’s reintegration alongside Devin Booker is more than a lineup tweak. General manager Brian Gregory recently suggested Booker and Green have the potential to become one of the NBA’s elite backcourts. Chemistry, however, is not theoretical. It is built through possessions, late-game reps, and shared decision-making. Tonight offers another data point in that experiment.

The challenge is steep. San Antonio rides a six-game winning streak behind the evolving dominance of Victor Wembanyama and the efficiency of De’Aaron Fox. Wembanyama’s 24.4-point average over his last 10 games reflects not just scoring, but comfort. Fox’s 48.4 percent shooting signals control, as the Spurs are also currently second in the Western Conference standings. The Suns have beaten the Spurs twice this season, with Phoenix taking the last matchup by a score of 111–102 on Nov. 24. For Phoenix, the takeaway is clear as they must survive defensively without Dillon Brooks while getting a chance to accelerate the chemistry between Devin Booker and Jalen Green.
