GLENDALE – The status of Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is starting to become clear after Friday. Head coach Jonathan Gannon spoke with the media and named the players that will be out for Week 16 vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Harrison was not a part of those names, but Gannon did say he wanted to see how some guys progress in the coming days.

Arizona Cardinals receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (18) warms up before their game against the Tennessee Titans at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Oct. 5, 2025.

Harrison on his status on Sunday:

Harrison feels good, but remains rightfully cautious after the mishap during his last return. His sophomore season has been a rough one to endure, first having to have appendicitis surgery and missing two weeks.  Then, his Week 13 return ended early due to a heel issue that was causing him visible pain and a limp.

Gannon stated that Harrison could run at his normal pace and only seemed uncomfortable when walking or jogging. Arizona has been regulating its young wide receiver reps and ensuring his health for a return that won’t be shorten again due to injuries.

Atlanta has the eighth-best passing defense in the NFL, allowing 195.6 yards per game. Unlike their pass rush, the Falcons secondary is filled with veteran defensive backs that have completely flipped the unit from last year’s disaster. Safety Xavier Watts and Jessie Bates have been the core guys to uplift the secondaries into one of the league’s best.

A Harrison return could be a necessity for Arizona to have enough firepower offensively to make Atlanta uncomfortable. A three-headed monster of Harrison, Trey McBride and Michael Wilson should help revive a dying Cardinals offense against a touted Falcons defense.
