GLENDALE – A late addition to the Arizona Cardinals injury report could spell major trouble for the team’s Week 5 matchup vs. the Tennessee Titans. The defense has struggled to stay healthy, and it looks to continues with the status of its CB1 up in the air.

Cardinals announce Melton’s status for Sunday’s game:
The Cardinals have gotten encouraging injury news the past week to other defensive players. Rookie cornerback Will Johnson, who missed the past two weeks with a groin injury, participated in everyday in practice this week. Then, defensive lineman Bilal Nichols was activated from the PUP list to the 53-man roster. However, much like how this season has gone, Arizona can’t have nice things for long.

Arizona Cardinals cornerback Max Melton (16) warms up before a preseason game on Aug. 10, 2024 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The injuries to Johnson and fellow starting cornerback Garrett Williams, has left Melton to fend for himself in the secondary. At only 23 years old, Melton has done a superb job of being the veteran leadership in the defensive back room. The former second-round pick has appeared in all four games this season and has recorded three pass deflections.
Tennessee is dead last in passing yards per game through the first quarter of the season. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward has struggled against NFL secondaries to begin his career. Melton’s status for Sunday’s game is important, as Arizona aims to continue Ward’s skid.
