Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia spoke on the agreement:

“I’m extremely excited about this partnership as it represents two organizations that have natural alignment and a shared commitment to excellence. The Phoenix Suns and Mercury have a diverse, passionate, and engaged fan base in sports that will allow us to make strong connections between mortgage brokers and consumers.” (Credit: Jeremy Cluff | The Arizona Republic)

With an arena that hosts more than two million guests annually, this will certainly bring a lot of eyes to Mat Ishbia’s businesses in more ways than just through the Suns, as the arena has been a venue for multiple big concerts and events. Mortgage Matchup Center will also be the home of the Women’s Final Four in 2026 and the NBA All-Star Game in 2027.

Some fans recognize how beneficial it will for not just Suns and Mercury Owner Mat Ishbia, but the franchises in the long run. Other fans are not fond of the newest name change and feel that this is just another opportunity that was missed in rebuilding the culture for the Phoenix Suns.
