GLENDALE – Losing an NFL game is one thing, but seeing a teammate of five years go down with a significant injury is hard to swallow. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray spoke with the media postgame, after the team’s 16-15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Murray was clearly upset about the lost but seemed genuinely shaken up when discussing the injury to his “brother” running back James Conner.

Cardinals QB Murray on Conner’s injury:

“It’s unfortunate, not only is he my teammate, but I feel like that’s a brother of mine. To see him go down like that, you never want to see that and I understand it’s a part of the game, but it’s not ideal. All the work he puts in, [and] who he is as a person, you don’t want to see him hurt like that. So, yeah, it’s tough.”

FOX cameras caught Murray on the sideline emotional as Conner had to be carted off the field. The specifics of the injury is unknown, with it just being classified as a lower right leg injury. However, replay showed the 30-year-old halfback’s knee getting twisted badly. The usually hard-nosed tough Conner, immediately grabbed his head in pain.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon didn’t have an update on his two-time Pro Bowler. Regardless, Conner will likely be out a significant amount of time, and for an offense that is already struggling, it’ll continue to have to face another hurdle to endure.
