Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (1) warms up before their game against the Las Vegas Raiders at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, on Aug. 23, 2025.
The Arizona quarterback came under fire on Tuesday, Sept. 16, after posting the photos and taking them down after the backlash. Vick was a former NFL quarterback who was criminally charged with involvement in dogfighting rings in 2007.
“In no way, shape or form do I condone animal cruelty or dog fighting,” Murray said on Wednesday, according to Ari Meirov. “Y’all saw me wear the Michael Vick jersey, the player that I admired very much growing up… I saw it had affected people and decided to take it down.”

Vick played for the Atlanta Falcons before his conviction. He was suspended after pleading guilty to charges related to his involvement in dogfighting rings in 2007.
After serving 19 months in prison, he returned to the NFL in 2009 as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.
