NEW YORK – The NFL season has officially kicked off, and former Arizona State star Cam Skattebo has won the first Angry Runs award from the NFL Network.

NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt has been the face of one of their segments called Angry Runs, which puts the spotlight on the top running back plays that include explosive strength and highlight stiff arms.

The play that won Skattebo the award came in the first quarter of the Giants’ matchup against the Washington Commanders. It was a pass towards the sidelines, and after Skattebo made the catch, his first hit sent Commanders’ Trey Amos flying to the ground. Skattebo rightfully deserved the Angry Runs award after a hard-nosed debut.

The Giants didn’t look in sync in their week 1 matchup, but that didn’t stop Skattebo from making his mark. NFL fans, as well as Arizona State fans, also noticed on social media the aggressive play and intense mindset that Skattebo is bringing to the NFL. It’s only early on in his NFL career, but he is already turning heads.

What will be next for Skattebo during his rookie NFL season? Skattebo is still getting reps working behind Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., though will be looking to make more of a mark in their offense as the season goes on. If Skattebo can keep running as angry as he did, he might be taking some more hardware at the end of the season.
