PHOENIX – Ketel Marte has been named the starting second baseman in the 2025 MLB All-Star game for the National League, beating out Tommy Edman from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ketel Marte, the star second baseman for the Snakes and one of the faces of the D-Backs franchise, has been selected to be a starter for the National League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, winning the vote 70% to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Tommy Edman’s 30%. Marte on the season is hitting a .296 batting average with a .400 on-base percentage, and a .983 OPS. His 2025 season also includes 17 home runs with 37 RBIs, as he has been leading the charge for Arizona. Marte beats out the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Tommy Edman to get the start.

Marte isn’t unknown to the limelight as he helped the D-Backs charge to a World Series appearance in 2023, but also found himself third in the National League MVP voting last year.

Helping make the case for Ketel Marte:
This past week, multiple D-Backs players and personnel including Manager Torey Lovullo, first-baseman Josh Naylor, and starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt all went to a local Chick-fil-A in Phoenix to help get support for Marte to be the starting second baseman. That triggered an effect that was felt all around the valley, that included others coming to help get the word out. Some that helped out included Arizona State Sun Devils Head Coach Kenny Dillingham and Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.
