PHOENIX — The Phoenix Mercury is on a momentum high and looks to take it into Saturday’s matchup against the Seattle Storm in its fourth game in the Commissioner’s Cup on June 7.

After a blowout loss against the Minnesota Lynx on June 3, the Mercury looked to regroup back home against the Golden State Valkyries. Phoenix started slowly, with five turnovers and a 12.5% shooting percentage from the field as a team. Golden State took a 38-37 lead at the half.

Both teams took a 61-61 tie after the third quarter. Backed by Lexi Held and Satou Sabally, the Mercury went on an 18-1 run in the final minutes of the fourth and sealed an 86-77 victory.
Held was Phoenix’s star player, scoring a career-high 24 points and adding two assists.
Phoenix improves to 6-3 and is second in the Western Conference.

Seattle comes off a win against the Dallas Wings on June 3, 83-77, snapping a three-skid. After playing from behind for over two quarters, Erica Wheeler gave the Storm its first lead in the third on a 16-2 run.
Seattle bench players made thirty points in the win.

Gabby Williams led scoring for the Storm in the win, with 18 points and shooting 46.2% from the field.
Seattle is 4-4 and fourth in the Western Conference.
