The D-Backs caught a couple of lucky breaks early on in the game. In the first inning, Eugenio Suárez hit a double that dropped in right past centerfielder Hyesong Kim after he lost it in the sky, as Marte scored. Josh Naylor took advantage with runners on base and grounded out, but scored Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to make it a 2-0 game early on. The Dodgers have surrendered a run in the first inning in the last five games.

In the second inning, Tim Tawa reached third after a couple of misthrows by Max Muncy and Jack Dreyer. Geraldo Perdomo then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Tawa across the plate for a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

It kept getting better and better for Arizona. After a Corbin Carroll walk, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. smashed a two-run home run 395 feet off of Landon Knack to bring Arizona a 5-0 lead! Shortly after, Josh Naylor hit a single, and Gabriel Moreno followed Gurriel Jr.’s lead and hit a two-run home run of his own, blowing this lead out to 7-0 in the third inning.

Geraldo Perdomo got in on the home run party by hitting a two-run home run that blew this game open for Arizona by a score of 9-3.

Brandon Pfaadt got back on track and looked like he did in his matchup against the Dodgers at Chase Field. Pfaadt didn’t allow a hit until a Mookie Betts solo shot home run in the bottom of the fourth inning and ended the day giving up three earned runs on three hits in six innings pitched.
