Arizona took care of business in the first meeting on Monday night. Their bats came alive early and often, making a statement that they are hunting down this division.
Toeing the rubber on Tuesday:
Ryne Nelson will get the start for Arizona in Tuesday’s game at Dodger Stadium. Other than Nelson’s two outings where he stumbled against the Chicago Cubs, he has been pretty on point this season. Nelson recently saw this Dodgers team in their last series at Chase Field, where he didn’t allow a hit in two innings to Los Angeles. So far on the season, Ryne has a 1-1 record with a 5.13 ERA IN 26.1 innings pitched.

The Dodgers will be sending out their star Yoshinobu Yamamoto to face the D-Backs. Yamamoto will look to end the Dodgers four game losing streak, and overcome his own personal struggles as well on Tuesday. His last outing in Arizona against the D-Backs he didn’t fare well as he gave up five earned runs on six hits in five innings pitched. Arizona will look to continue that recent success tonight against Yamamoto.

Corbin Carroll will be leading off tonight for this Arizona ball club. Eugenio Suárez gets a night off, as Jordan Lawlar will take his spot at third base. Tim Tawa will join Suárez in a night of rest, as Alek Thomas will start in center field. Gabriel Moreno is behind the plate for Nelson, and Pavin Smith will be DH tonight after his two-for-four performance on Monday night.

One of the keys for this Arizona offense will be jumping on Yamamoto early, as the Los Angeles bullpen seemingly needs their rest. If they can run Yoshinobu’s pitch count up and get him out of the game quickly, they have a good chance of taking the series on Tuesday night. First pitch at Dodger Stadium is at 7:10 p.m. P.T.
