Zac Gallen had another masterclass against the Mets, as he followed up his spectacular start in New York against this very same ball club with another gem tonight at Chase Field. Gallen pitched seven innings and only gave up one earned run when he walked Pete Alonso in the top of the third inning.

Arizona came back shortly after the Mets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, as after a Josh Naylor ground out that scored Randal Grichuk, Geraldo Perdomo hit into a fielders choice as well but scored Josh Naylor, taking the lead right back.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. continued his upward trajectory as he hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Once Josh Naylor hit Corbin Carroll in on a sacrifice fly an inning later, the D-Backs took a 5-1 lead that New York couldn’t eventually come back from.

After what was a spectacular outing from Gallen, Kevin Ginkel and Shelby Miller held down the fort as they each gave up only one hit with no earned runs to help seal the deal for the D-Backs.

The D-Backs will look to take the series in Wednesday’s day game against the Mets tomorrow at Chase Field.
