It started with a bang and ended in a suspenseful thrilling manner on Monday night, as Arizona lost by a score of 5-4 at Chase Field.
Corbin Carroll hit a lead-off home run, showing early how much he loves to hit at home at Chase Field. After what was a quiet couple of innings, the New York Mets came alive throughout the game. Pete Alonso’s two-run home run in the fourth inning along with Francisco Lindor’s three-run home run broke this game open for New York early.

The Diamondbacks, you guessed it.. answered back on Monday, but couldn’t quite pull out the victory. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Josh Naylor hit a single to center that scored Geraldo Perdomo making it a three-run game. Eugenio Suárez then hit a ball deep into left-center and as it went off the wall, scored Carroll and Marte. Josh Naylor held up at second though, and shortly after Arizona left the tying run on base after a Gabriel Moreno strike out and a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. pop out.
