The D-Backs and Phillies are both entering Friday’s matchup with a 17-14 record. Arizona is coming into Philly after winning the road series against the surging New York Mets and winning Thursday’s matchup by a score of 4-2. Over their last nine road games, Arizona has a 6-3 record.
On the mound on Friday:
The D-Backs will be looking for RHP Merrill Kelly to shut the Phillies down today. His last start came at Chase Field against Atlanta, where he gave up a couple of early solo home runs to the Braves, but settled in nicely after. Kelly pitched six innings and only gave up two earned runs on four hits. Getting his seventh start of the season, he looks to keep up his consistency as in his last four starts, Kelly has pitched five innings or more.

LHP Jesús Luzardo will get the nod today for the Phillies. Luzardo currently has a 3-0 record with a 1.73 ERA on the season, as he has had multiple quality starts this season. His last outing was against the Chicago Cubs where Luzardo surrendered no earned runs over six innings of work and only allowed three hits. His 41 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched shows that Arizona will have their work cut out for them on Friday.
Players to watch:
Geraldo Perdomo has been a force to reckon with for Arizona. His patience and vision at the plate have uplifted this ball club in more ways than one. Perdomo is hitting .304/.433/.609 over his last seven games along with seven hits and two home runs.
