Recently there has been a lot of speculations surrounding the renovations at Chase Field, and in Friday night’s Arizona Diamondbacks game there was a massive accident that proves changes are needed.

It was reported on April 25th that Gov. Katie Hobbs’ office was starting involvement in brokering a deal to have the Diamondbacks stay in Downtown Phoenix at Chase Field. The governor’s communications director, Christian Slater mentioned that the upcoming meetings were to, “negotiate a bill that will protect taxpayer dollars, create jobs and keep the Diamondbacks in Phoenix.” The Arizona Diamondbacks are committing to the valley for another 30 years as part of the agreement, and are willing to provide at least $250 million of the estimated $400-$500 million.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred spoke on the matter:
“It does not involve new taxes; it’s just a redirection of tax dollars. I remain hopeful that the bill passes and secures the future of the Diamondbacks in that facility.”
There have been many concerns over the past few years with Chase Field, and this isn’t the first problem. Recently, the roof has been replaced after multiple years of it not being in use, but that is just the first step. The A/C unit replacement is a huge issue as well. Needless to say after Friday night, plumbing might be added to that list.
This situation will hopefully be addressed sooner rather than later. Though as of now, the D-Backs look to focus on what they can control as they look to break a three-game losing streak against the Atlanta Braves tonight at Chase Field.
