TEMPE – After a hectic week of many Sun Devils heading out the door, Arizona State men’s basketball gets some much-needed levity with a massive commitment. As announced by Jamie Shaw on Wednesday, four-star power forward Jason Pitt is heading to ASU. Pitt had offers from California and Oklahoma State but decided to stay home in the Valley and rock the Maroon and Gold.

The 6’7 forward was a top-three prospect in Arizona and was a massive get for head coach Bobby Hurley, who lost out on superstar Koa Peat.

Pitt’s length is sensational and will allow him to make an impact on day one. His lanky wingspan and 215-pound frame will help him adjust to the physicality of Division 1 basketball. The Grizzlies senior will join other highly touted first-year Sun Devils like center Fridrick Leo Curtis and forward Kash Polk.
The three incoming freshmen will be crucial with the departure of top ASU players in the rotation. Freshman guard Joson Sanon went to St John’s, and centers Shawn Phillips Jr. and Jayden Quaintance are entering the transfer portal.
Hurley will have a lot of work to fill in the holes left by the transfer portal, but the Pitt addition will help immensely.
