The Arizona Diamondbacks got their first win of the 2025 regular season, beating the Chicago Cubs at home by a score of 8-1.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Where to begin with this one, Merrill Kelly seems to just have Chicago’s number. He only gave up three hits and one run in 5.1 innings. More problems on the defensive side occurred, but Kelly kept it under control.

The D-Backs stars continued to shine as well. Ketel Marte went going 2-for-5 with a double. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. finished the same, but scoring two on top of that.
Diamondbacks unsung heroes:
Eugenio Suárez has started this season on a tear. He blasted two home runs on Friday night, after he hit one as well yesterday on Opening Day. Suárez mentioned after the game, “Obviously, it feels great, you know, having a start like this. And, you know, like I always say, I just want to keep going.”

Pavin Smith and Alek Thomas both came to play as well. Thomas, had an RBI along with two doubles and a run scored in his 3-for-4 outing. Smith, going 3-for-4 as well, had an RBI too. The Diamondbacks will need help from everybody, not just their stars, going forward.

Shelby Miller also went out and had one amazing outing. His dominating play in the eighth inning and calm demeanor on the mound in the ninth helped ease this Diamondbacks win into place perfectly. Miller threw 16 strikes on 17 pitches in two innings, no walks or base hits were allowed.
