Kevin Durant erupted for 38 points, eight rebounds and five assists the same day he was named Western Conference Player of the Week. A clutch transition 3-pointer gave Phoenix a one point lead with 26 seconds left. A missed Brook Lopez free throw made way for Booker to take it home.

Booker finished with 19 points and 12 assists on the night. Nick Richards, returning from injury, put together a huge 29 minutes, scoring 10 points and snagging 10 rebounds. Ryan Dunn was the only other Sun to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Despite committing 16 turnovers and giving up 27 points off them, Phoenix was able to edge out the win through heart and grit.

Not only is this win huge because the Suns are now 2-0 on to start their 10-game “juggernaut” stretch where they matchup against some of the NBA’s best, but because the Dallas Mavericks — tied with Phoenix at 35-37 — and the Sacramento Kings lost — now ½ games ahead of Phoenix for the 9th seed — on the same night.

Emphatic Dunn posterizer gives Suns boost in 3rd quarter

With 6:13 left in the third quarter, Devin Booker shoveled a pass to a running Ryan Dunn in transition who attacked the basket without hesitation and threw down an emphatic posterizing dunk on Giannis Antetokounmpo to give Phoenix all of the momentum and the lead ahead of the final quarter, 81-78.

The Suns have been clicking on all cylinders recently and this game against Milwaukee is no different. Kevin Durant scored 13 of his game-high 29 points in the third quarter to continue his Player of the Week award winning level of production. Booker’s assist to Dunn’s dunk was his ninth of the game to go along with 15 points.

Antetokounmpo scored nine points in the period, brining his total to 24 points. The Bucks shot just 7-of-24 in the quarter which was catalyst to allowing Phoenix to outscore them 27-20 and take the lead.

Suns clean up mistakes, battle back in 2nd quarter

Phoenix started the second quarter on a 6-0 run to take its second lead of the game and, despite committing four more turnovers an giving up eight more points off of them, outscored the Bucks to trim into the lead ahead of halftime, 58-54.

Devin Booker scored seven points in the second period to bring his total up to 15 points and five assists on 5-of-9 shooting. Kevin Durant led the Suns in the first half with 16 points and four assists, but gave up the ball four times. Collin Gillespie and Nick Richards added six points each in the half to flank the star duo.

As a result of Phoenix switching everything on Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 15 points in the first half, defensively, Brook Lopez was able to get many mismatches in the post and finished the first half with 13 points and six rebounds. With Damian Lillard out, Milwaukee got ample production from its backcourt — nine points from Gary Trent Jr. and eight from Ryan Rollins.

Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo exchanged blows in the opening quarter — Durant with 11 points and Antetokounmpo with 10 — but Phoenix’s turnovers gave Milwaukee the lead, 30-25.
