PHOENIX— Bor Artnak, a sophomore at Arizona State University, is quickly making a name for himself in collegiate tennis. His recent performance at the UTR College Championship earned him Men’s Player of the Week honors, a recognition that underscores his exceptional talent and rapid adaptation to American college play.

Artnak showcased his skills at the UTR College Championship, going undefeated in three pivotal matches. Among his victories, a standout moment came when he edged out Princeton’s Paul Inchauspe, ranked No. 40, with a stunning 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) performance—proving that his No. 109 ranking doesn’t define his talent.

Artnak was well aware of the talent he was up against, as well as the skill he could bring to the table. Coming from Slovenia days before, he took a big risk by joining a college team for the first time, as someone having no experience working with a team and previously only trained with a personal coach.

While he has been recognized for overcoming the challenges of stepping out of his comfort zone, Artnak is also praised for his strengths as a player and teammate. Head coach Matt Hill and assistant coach Dominic Cotrone highlighted his outstanding timing and ability to return forehands.

“The reason he’s so versatile is his timing is so good” Cotrone said.

“Bor is one of the best coming into college tennis this year, if not the best player coming into college tennis” Hill added.

Artnak’s success in such a short amount of time really encapsulates how much more accomplishments he could bring to not only ASU but to the tennis world in general. This young sophomore has unlimited potential and already has both of his head coaches rooting for him and truly seeing him become a professional tennis player at the rate he’s going.
