The Arizona State women’s basketball team has demonstrated resilience to Big 12 basketball followers. However, they were eliminated by the Iowa State Cyclones, with a final score of 96-88, in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament, which was held in Kansas City.

The dynamic backcourt duo of junior Jalyn Brown and graduate student Tyi Skinner combined for an impressive total of 49 points. However, the Sun Devils struggled to contain Cyclones sophomore forward Addy Brown, who set a preliminary round record in the Big 12 tournament by scoring 41 points and had six rebounds and four assists.
The Sun Devils started the Big 12 tournament with a victory over Cincinnati, marking their first win in a conference tournament since 2019. Skinner surpassed Taya Hanson to become third in the program’s history for all-time career three-pointers made with 148.
Arizona State head coach Natasha Adair has been coaching Skinner since her tenure as head coach at the University of Delaware. They have built a strong relationship both on and off the court.
“Ty and I have known each other for a very long time,” Adair said Saturday. “Right when she first came into college, and for her to follow me here, that just speaks to the relationship. But when I coach players, they are considered family.”
Arizona State finished the 2024-25 season with a record of 10-22 (3-15 Big 12). Its 22 losses are tied for the most in school history, matching the 1993-94 team’s 4-22 record.
