PHOENIX – Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi, after a two-decade long playing career, officially announced her retirement today to TIME magazine. Taurasi has been a cornerstone of the Mercury franchise for the past 20 years and has led the franchise to three WNBA championships. The 11-time All-Star is the All-time leading scorer in WNBA history at 10,646 points and is the only player in league’s history to score 10K points.

Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi (3) waits to be introduced on Sept. 19, 2024 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.

After the Mercury has introduced its newest member in Alyssa Thomas, it says goodbye to arguably the greatest WNBA player in history. Taurasi’s legacy will be remembered in Phoenix for decades, and surely will have her number retired and a statue standing outside Jefferson street to show love to the former MVP.
