Arizona Diamondback Corbin Carroll was ranked at fifth in baseball in ESPN senior writer Buster Olney’s “corner outfielders” list after Carroll’s second season. Carroll comes in just behind Atlanta Brave Ronald Acuña Jr. and just ahead of San Diego Padre Fernando Tatis Jr..

Olney’s outfielder rankings are the latest in his series of positional rankings after posting catcher and infielder rankings earlier in February.

Gabriel Moreno ranked tenth behind Patrick Bailey of the San Francisco Giants, though injury was sighted as a reason why Moreno was not ranked higher.

Newly acquired first baseman Josh Naylor, formerly of the Cleveland Guardians, ranked ninth on Olney’s list ahead of Tampa Bay Ray Yandy Diaz and behind St. Louis Cardinal Willson Contreras.

Ketel Marte ranked as the number one second baseman in baseball after arguably the best season of his career. Marte recorded a 6.8 wins above replacement rate in 2024, just behind his career best of 6.9 from his 2019 season according to baseball reference.

Diamondbacks’ third baseman Eugenio Suárez ranks eighth behind Los Angeles Dodger Max Muncy and in front of Alec Bohm of the Philadelphia Phillies. Suárez was acquired from the Seattle Mariners and has bolstered the Diamondbacks lineup, enough for the team to pick up his $15 million option for the upcoming 2025 season.

Despite not having a shortstop ranked in Olney’s rankings, the Diamondbacks must feel comfortable at the position after signing Geraldo Perdomo to a four year, $45 million dollar extension. The Diamondbacks also have Jordan Lawlar on the spring training roster, the eleventh ranked prospect in MLB’s top 100.

Four positions remain in Olney’s rankings as they are published to ESPN+ over the course of February.
