Phoenix Suns All-Star Kevin Durant spoke to the media after becoming the eighth player in NBA history to reach 30,000 career points against the Memphis Grizzlies.
At the 1:11 mark in the third quarter of a 119-112 loss to the Grizzlies, Durant sunk a free throw to score his 26th point of the night and notch his name in basketball history. The 15-time All-Star finished the night with 34 points on 12-of-18 from the field and 3-of-4 on 3s.
As the game closed, Memphis star Ja Morant made sure that Durant got the game ball to celebrate his milestone. When asked if he could possibly reach 40,000 points, a la LeBron James, he said “I’m just trying to stay consistent and see what happens.”
Durant is one of eight players to eclipse 30,000 points: LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlin and now Kevin Durant.
