Dallastown (Pa.) Area High School wide receiver Michael Scott stated on Wednesday that he has reopened his recruitment following this move.

“After a long talk with my family and coaches and prayers to God, I have decided that I will be decommitting from Arizona State University and reopening my recruitment process,” Scott said on X/Twitter. “I would like to thank the Arizona State coaching staff for showing me true love and hospitality and giving me an opportunity to go to college for free. I would also like to thank the Arizona State fan base for sticking beside me and supporting me through everything.

“This decision was a very hard decision to make because of the great people and coaches that Arizona State has and the culture that they are creating and rebuilding is absolutely electric. But I feel like this is God’s will and I follow everything by my faith in Christ. Thank you again Sun Devil Nation.”

During the summer, Scott was the 16th commit of the Sun Devils’ recruitment class for 2025 after he took an official visit around ASU. He originally considered ASU, Kansas State and James Madison as his final schools before committing to Arizona State.

The 5-foot-8, 155-pound wideout also received offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, UMass, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Penn State, Old Dominion, Temple, Toledo and West Virginia in the past.

According to 247Sports, the Pennsylvania native is ranked as a three-star recruit and is the No. 29 best high school player in the state.

For the Wildcats last year, Scott had 33 receptions for 493 yards and scored 10 total touchdowns in his junior season. He also played snaps at quarterback.

Despite being recruited by Steelers legend, ASU wide receivers coach Hines Ward, Scott has decided it is best for him to explore his options once again.

With Scott heading elsewhere, Arizona State has three wide receiver commits for next season. Centennial (Calif.) High School’s Cory Butler, Weiss (Tex.) High School’s Adrian Wilson and San Tan Charter’s Uriah Neloms are all set to become Sun Devils under Ward, offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo and head coach Kenny Dillingham.
